1-Bestial Greetings! Urgrund is the first band from Australia that appear in Pantokrator’zine, Do you have received some interview from Spain before? First of all, tell us when, how and why you decided to form this band... and what is the meaning of Urgrund?
No we don’t get alot of mail from Spain..Although we have some contacts there...Urgrund is a combo word meaning Ancient Soil, Atlantis...Ultima Thule if you will.. So naturally theres alot of inspiration in History...We have dealt with this topic for years without overusing this idea...I found it as a word that was never used before...
2-Now Urgrund is a three pieces band like the old acts like Venom, Hellhammer, Coroner, Sodom... Do you feel that this is the perfect formation for the group? In the past, many members have passed by Urgrund, Why so many changes?
I must say the above mentioned acts are some of our major influences...Moving interstate had alot to do with line up changes...And even so Urgrund is an international act, most previous band comrads had their side projects as their first home...So initially from the start I was to be the one in charge of the project...We are a 4 piece recently and may consider limited live assaults...
3-Ok, if I’m not wrong, Urgrund are R.Bolthorn (Guit/Vox) C.Volcano (Drums) and Possessed (Guit)...
but what’s about the bass? Maybe are you thinking to add some new member to handle the bass?
AD Barathrum is on bass, Although he is to venture to Europe soon...We may have a replacement for gigs if need be in his 12 month absence...
4-I have read that the band have born in 1999... to the date you have released many stuff, demo, 7”ep’s, Mcd and two full length cd’s. Are you satisfied with all these editions? Also you have work with differents labels. Is this the best way for Urgrund or maybe is hard to find a good label for all your editions?
We actually came about late 1998 ...I’n never satisfied that’s why the efforts gather momentum by age...I think the newer material is great...Especially with the guitar force we have developed since “Unchangeable Fate” As I did all guitars myself for that album...All our sponsors have our full respect...Spikekult (RIP), Baphomet records and Invictus Productions...All Hails!
5-Urgrund have a sound that takes a lot of different styles, a bit of Death, Black Thrash... not only one style. In wich do you feel more involved? Or just metal scene?
I’m not so into the scene these days...Well the local one anyway here..I’m more of a recluse...It’s a kindergarten ground these days...Just young tools taking drugs and gettin drunk any given moment...The scene is very weak in the mindset way...I would rather play live in front of strong, more mature minded individuals that respect the music and the intellect within the lyrics...And Not swimming in their own vomit...I think still I am more involved within the Black Metal Realm of things internationally...Not that i listen to alot of Black metal...But it is the strongest element in Urgrund I think...
6-Your lyrics have some about Heathen and antichristian. Also you like to touch themes like War and Barbarism... What represent all of this for you? What do you think about war and hate? Are Christianism so important part in the society in Australia?
Heathenism, Asatru is a natural interest for me because of my Germanic heritage and my youth back in Europa...On the other hand we have lots of topics on a grand scale...Points in history from different cultures...Mostly dealing with war and tragedy...Secret Societies etc also...Christianity is i strong here in Australia which is a disease like no other globally...But because we are part of the commonwealth and an anglo-saxon conquering, this is standard...I would rather have it stay like this than this muslim shit that’s happening at the moment here...I mock Christianity and mainstream religions...
7-Why all the bands that coming from Australia sounds in the same way? You know... full of fast, brutal, angry, raw and Hatred Metal! aaarrgghh! Can you tell us about the new interesting bands of your área?
I like Gospel Of The Horns, Kill For Satan, Martire, Abominator, Funerary Pit, Ignivormous...But I disagree I think alot of bands since the Black Thrash explosion have defined their sounds...The Bestial Warlust/Destroyer 666 clone feel has been left alone now...I don’t really listen to alot of Oz bands but i do like the classics...Armoured Angel deserves a mention also...
8-Would you like to come to Europe on tour?
Of course..but the logistics of it all taking time off work...matching schedules with the other band members..it makes it difficult...When the right time comes perhaps...But Urgrund has always been a band that rarely gigs..Only when there is need for promoting a release...I Go to Europe every 2 years for relatives and family etc
9-“Unchangeable Fate” is your last work since 2005. Are you working in the new stuff? Can you tell us more about this?
The New Album will be called “Disciples Of Supremacy”...Which will be recorded/mixed through out May/June this year...it will be our last offering on our Baphomet Records Contract...It will feature 8 new tracks of blistering black death madness
10-If the world is ending tomorrow... name some albums, demos and 7”ep’s that you would bring into your tomb to listen to in eternity.

11-Are there any ancient books/ ethnical sources that help you when you compose the lyrics?
Definately Nieztschean atheist, will to power based stuff...Then random references on history and the occult...Might Is Right is also worthy of a mention...
12-For you, what is the place of the “Friendships” in the band? Are you good friends besides being musicians who play Together in a band?
I would say so...Otherwise there is constant negative eneregy...In the past this proved vital...So hard to keep a band together when you see the same fuckers all the bloody time...We have a good system going with the new members and our rehearsal room etc..Plus we don’t drink as much as we used too...So we have a clearer head...
13-Why is so difficult for a band like you to be promoted outside? Have you at least have a good pPromotion inside Australia? Do you perform live gigs? Please tell me about them...
We have a few small ditros that handle Australian Undergrund releases and they never fold which suites the cause, they are here to stay...We have not done a gig since March 2006 which was interstate and a killer show...We are thinking of doing a few shows for the new album
14-Which are your goals with the band and what kind of distribution you’d like to have? Is Urgrund for a limited amount of people?
I wouldn’t say world domination, But by age we are becoming more known...but we still have that Underground mystery about us...I could not see us in Glossy magazines with special photography and all that shit...But we will strive to attack more masses with our fist of rampant black/death metal...Urgrund is for the strong...No fairy gothy keyboard bullcrap that plagues real metal...
15-Are you interested in other kind of themes like Satanism, Demonology, Witchcraft, Sorcery and this kind of things? What is your concept about paganism/Heathenism?
16-Plans for future with Urgrund?
I’m interested in many of the above topics...I am a non believer of the bible so therfore also not in the opposite (only it’s casue to invoke hate and fear)...Witchcraft interests me as it’s a period in history that stands out...The witch hunts etc for instance...I don’t believe in Magic (or mumbo jumbo candle bullshit) nor respect poofters like La vey and that Crowley freak that so many people look up to ( i don’t know why) The Destruction of religion I support...Satanism in it’s inverted hate-form, Anti- Christian/government slander...These Church foundations are no good...Through imagery and propaganda, .I use Heathen themes as a belonging to ancestral power and uprising...Again I don’t believe or practice what our forefathers of Europe praised but it comes down to respect and bloodline..I see the Runes as belonging, language and art...I also see the Gods and Goddesses as a form of characterisitics that we should bring into our lives...
